I never played any of the *Craft games (War-, Star-) or any of the C&C series beyond the first, or any of the Age of Empires series. My RTS experience, as I recall it, was basically Dune 2 -> Command & Conquer -> TA -> SupCom -> SupCom 2, stopping along the way to play Company of Heroes. I never really played TA Kingdoms either, though I heard it actually wasn't bad once it was patched. This was a major problem in games where the map maker has made errors in assigning teams. Once you opened the lobby (meaning you can be joined from the game list) you're stuck (this was the situation in the beta, no idea if it's changed). If you host the lobby, you can do this before opening it.
Only other thing I didn't like about the lobbies (that I hope they have changed) is the inability to re-designate teams and team members. You select anything from this list, and it will either put you in a game that has a spot open for you, or if none are available create a new lobby.įor anyone that doesn't know why this is such a big change, it removes the option the user had in SC1 to create a lobby, and name it, which was a big part in recreating games so the same group of people could play together. The current lobby system lists maps that have been published, in order of popularity.
